John DiCapua, MD

Dr. Di Capua oversees anesthesia services and operations at hospitals across the health system. He served as chairman of anesthesiology at North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center since 2006.

Dr. Di Capua joined the health system in 1994 as an anesthesiologist at Glen Cove Hospital. Prior to that, he was an assistant in anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA and Cambridge Hospital, Cambridge, MA; a clinical fellow in anesthesia at Shriner’s Burns Institute in Boston; and a consultant in anesthesia at McLean Psychiatric Hospital, Belmont, MA.

Dr. Di Capua is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiologists and the American Board of Pain Medicine. His professional affiliations include membership in the International Association for the Study of Pain, the American Pain
Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Di Capua has lectured and presented extensively as well as written on pain management issues.

Dr. Di Capua received a bachelor’s degree and his medical degree from the Combined Medical Program, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY. He completed his residency in anesthesia as well as a fellowship in pain management at Massachusetts General Hospital.
