Jon Sendach

In assessing my needs for a fellowship program, I kept coming back to the same idea — relevance. My experience would have to be relevant to my educational process and have a palpable impact on the organization.

In the first few months of the program, nearly all of my needs were met. The leaders of this organization are world-class educators with a flare for bringing the next generation of healthcare executives onto the playing field. I felt inextricably connected to the projects to which I had been assigned, and was included as a real part of the team. I worked on our system's response to SARS, our charity care policy and a financial profitability analysis for one of our hospitals.

Combining classroom education at the Center for Learning and Innovation with an individually tailored rotation schedule and a mentorship program that really guides and nurtures, the North Shore-LIJ Administrative Fellowship Program is a phenomenal breeding ground for future healthcare leaders.
