Joseph Baglio
The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System's Administrative Fellowship Program provided me with the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real healthcare situations. Monthly breakfasts, dinners and social events presented the opportunity to develop a rapport with senior leadership and to understand the many facets of the health system.
Communicating with my preceptor and mentor helped make the fellowship a positive experience. My input was encouraged and, indeed, necessary to tailor the fellowship to my needs. This rotational-based program has allowed me to become involved in various projects throughout the health system, including the psychiatric facility (the Zucker Hillside Hospital) and Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York. I have developed business plans, analyzed satisfaction surveys and produced a financial profitability analysis.
