Director, Oncology/Surgery/Psychiatry Patient Care Services
As the director of oncology/surgery/psychiatry patient care services, Karen McGlynn oversees the daily operations for three oncology units that include a solid tumor medical oncology unit, a leukemia/lymphoma unit and a bone marrow transplant unit; three surgical units that include a general/oncology surgery unit, an orthopedic/bariatric surgery unit and a GYN/vascular surgery unit; a psychiatric unit; a paliative care unit; and a private medical/surgical unit.
Ms. McGlynn has held various positions at North Shore University Hospital since 1977, becoming a director in 1997, and has been chairperson of many committees. She is presently involved in the development of the professional practice model. She holds American Nurses Credentialing Center certification in nursing administration.
Ms. McGlynn received her baccalaureate of science in nursing in 1975 from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, her master's degree in nursing from Adelphi University in 1991 and is presently a doctoral student at Case Western Reserve University.
