Clinical Programs
Diabetes Mellitus: We are currently conducting clinical trials for new agents to treat patients with Diabetes Mellitus. These include new insulin therapies and new oral agents, which may improve insulin action in patients with Type 2 Diabetes.
Hypercholesterolemia: We are studying individuals with elevated levels of cholesterol and triglyceride in their blood; testing new agents for the management of these diseases
Osteoporosis: We are testing novel agents for the treatment of osteoporosis in women. These include both oral and intravenous drugs, which may be able to prevent debilitating fractures in women at risk. We are also participating with the SUNY Dental School at Stony Brook in a National Institute of Health funded study of the relationship of osteoporosis and periodontal disease. We are seeking women who are post-menopausal and have periodontal gum disease to study a new therapy for the treatment of both periodontal disease and osteopenia.
Hypercalcemia: We are conducting a research project for the medical therapy of hyperparathyroidism. The usual treatment for this disorder is surgery. We are testing a novel new oral drug, which may control or even reverse this disorder.
Hypertension: We are performing studies of novel agents and combinations of drugs for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults with and without diabetes mellitus.
