Obstetric anesthesiologists provide pre- and post-operative anesthetic care for patients undergoing labor and vaginal delivery, cesarean section (emergency and elective), bilateral tubal ligation, cervical cerclage, cesarean hysterectomy and other emergency obstetrical procedures. The obstetric anesthesiologist performs antepartum anesthetic consultations, provides intensive care for the critical ill partient and provides resuscitation of the newborn.
