Pathology at LIJ
The Department of Laboratories at Long Island Medical Center
The department supports the clinical direction of the administration and provides the necessary clinical support for all of the services associated with this tertiary care hospital, i.e. Outreach, Ambulatory Surgery, inpatient (823 beds over three campuses, (LIJMC, Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York and The Zucker Hillside Hospital), physician practices, Cancer Services, Cardiology, along with extensive pediatric services and many other programs. The department performs in excess of 2.6M clinical and anatomic pathology tests/year and dispenses over 32,000 blood products in support of the many programs within this tertiary facility.
The facility provides a full service operation inclusive of Laboratory Medicine and Anatomic Pathology in support of the mission of LIJMC Laboratories, along with the mission of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and the department. These include the following:
