Social Work at LIJ

Welcome to the Social Work Department of the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Our hope is to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, by providing high quality, caring services to our patients.

Our staff strives to assist patients dealing with the crisis of acute illness, as well as the challenge of coping with chronic illness.

Physical illness can have major impact on the lives of patients as well as those of their families.

The staff seeks to assist patients in improving their well-being through careful psychosocial assessment, advocacy, education, counseling, and planning for aftercare needs. In doing so, we enable patient to overcome personal, financial, and environmental difficulties.
