Lawrence Davis, MD, FACR
Interim Chairman of Radiology
North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center
Dr. Davis oversees radiology services and operations at NSUH and LIJ. He previously served as vice chair of the radiology department at both hospitals, a position in which he was involved in recruitment and retention, capital equipment selection, and IT, billing and financial issues. At LIJ, he was also responsible for day-to-day operational decisions.
Dr. Davis has a strong interest in education both at the institutional and national level. At LIJ, he is the program director for the radiology residency program, which is ranked in the top quintile nationally in board pass rate. He is a member of the health system’s Graduate Medical Education Executive Committee, and chairs the health system’s annual Academic Awards Competition.
In addition, Dr. Davis serves as assistant dean of students for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) and its relationship with LIJ as an affiliated teaching site. In this position, he coordinates rotations for all AECOM medical students assigned to North Shore-LIJ hospitals.
Dr. Davis is currently professor of clinical radiology and clinical nuclear medicine at AECOM.
Dr. Davis has been appointed president of the Association of Program Directors in Radiology. He serves as chair of the Education Commission of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and is a member of the ACR’s board of directors. In addition, he chairs the American Board of Radiology Nuclear Medicine Maintenance of Certification Exam Development Committee and the nuclear medicine section of its Certifying Exam Committee.
Dr. Davis received his medical degree from the State University of New York’s Downstate
Medical Center in Brooklyn.
