Like all research programs, one of the biggest challenges to our ongoing success is financial. Your support will allow us to continue our current work as well as undertake new projects. In particular, we hope to raise funds to initiate a program to study patients with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. This study would target people who receive the diagnosis of AD prior to the age of 60, many in their thirties and forties. Some of these individuals have a rare familial type of Alzheimer’s disease with known genetic causes. The disease strikes in the prime of life, when its victims still have work and family responsibilities. Most research excludes patients in this group, and they have no option but to wait for the ravaging effects of the disease on their life and family.
