MRI at Southside
A MRI unit uses a magnetic field and radio waves to produce images of the body and the insides of organs. It is particularly useful for viewing the brain and spinal cord, which are protected by bone and cannot be seen with X-rays.
The MRI is designed to reduce claustrophobia, and gives patients the speed of a closed MRI unit with much less of the tunnel effect. It is one of the few of its kind in our region that is able to do lower-leg magnetic resonance angiography to show blood flow to the legs.
