Nursing is both a profession and a skill. Its success depends largely on a bond between nurses and the patients and families that they care for. This special bond helps patients beyond the bounds of medicine during tough times like chemotherapy or dealing with diabetes while pregnant. And it goes both ways, turning what can start out as a job into a rewarding 15-year career and life path. This unique atmosphere at North Shore University Hospital has led many families to choose to work together. The Department of Nursing and Patient Care Services is home to mothers and daughters, sisters and fathers and daughters who extend their familial warmth to those they care for while expanding their own sense of family in the process. |
