Neurocognitive Endophenotypes in Bipolar Disorder

This study collects information about the performance of patients with bipolar disorder on tests of cognition, such as concentration, memory, and thinking. Siblings will be asked to participate in the procedures, as well as participants who are diagnosed with bipolar disorder who will be compared with patients and their siblings.

The glucose metabolic response to acute, intravenous citalopram administration will be evaluated in normal aging and in patients with geriatric depression. The glucose metabolic response to chronic treatment with citalopram will also be evaluated in patients with geriatric depression.
