Newborns at Plainview Hospital

Service Location
2nd Floor at Plainview Hospital

Services Provided
Normal newborns are admitted directly into the nursery and, after stabilization, are transferred to a designated nursery bassinet for the remainder of their stay, generally 2-4 days. Rooming-in of the infant with mother is encouraged and breast-feeding and on-demand feeding schedules are fostered. All infants are cared for utilizing a cooperative, interdisciplinary, family centered approach.

The unit provides care for many different conditions and diagnoses such as newborn transitional stage, regular newborn care and care of sick and critically ill newborns who have not left the hospital setting. Neonatologists are available in-house 24 hours, seven days a week to render care and consultation to the newborn during delivery and after.
