Nicholas Sgaglione, MD

Dr. Sgaglione leads the department of orthopedic surgery, overseeing all operations. He previously served as associate chairman of the department since 2007.
Dr. Sgaglione is also chief, division of sports medicine, department of orthopedic surgery at NSUH, and program director, orthopedic surgery residency program at NSUH and LIJ.
Dr. Sgaglione is clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Currently, Dr. Sgaglione serves as second vice president and member of the Executive Committee Board of Directors, Arthroscopy Association of North America. His professional affiliations also include membership in the American Orthopaedic Association, American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, and New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, among others. He also serves as a reviewer and member of the editorial board of several orthopedic medical journals.
Dr. Sgaglione earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery, and a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at The Southern California Orthopaedic Institute and Southern California Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Group, Van Nuys, CA.
