North Shore-LIJ Opens Ambulatory Site in Flushing
FLUSHING, NY -- North Shore-LIJ Health System has announced the opening of a new 12,000 square-foot ambulatory location in Flushing to meet the diverse cultural and medical needs of local residents, providing disease–focused outpatient specialty services, advanced medical imaging/testing and convenient access to high-quality physicians.
The new North Shore-LIJ Medical Group location, at Queens Crossing, 136-17 39th Avenue, Suite CF-E, is anchored by cardiology, thoracic surgery, urology, human reproduction internal medicine, general surgery and surgical oncology as well as other specialty care services. It is a continuation of the health system’s already impressive roster of inpatient and outpatient services throughout Queens and the New York area. North Shore-LIJ is scheduled to open additional ambulatory care centers in the coming weeks in Queens, Long Island and Manhattan.
“The opening of North Shore-LIJ Medical Group in Flushing is in keeping with our strategy of locating clinical services in convenient locations in the communities where our patients live and work, rather than in our hospitals,” said Michael Dowling, president and chief executive officer of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. “We’re confident that both physicians and patients will view the Medical Group at Flushing as a vital resource for their community.”
Mark Solazzo, executive vice president and chief operating officer at North Shore-LIJ, noted that the clinical services being provided at Flushing were designed to meet the specific health needs of area residents, with the overarching goal of providing a superior patient experience. “Providing a superior patient experience means understanding the specific needs of each community,” he said. “Queens is the most ethnically diverse area in the nation. Our responsiveness to patient, physician and community needs is paramount to delivering the best quality care.”
In developing the services specific to Flushing, an area that serves a large Asian-American population, Mr. Solazzo said North Shore-LIJ administrators and physicians reached out to the community through local businesses. “We are also partnering with local organizations to best meet the growing health needs of the community through educational programs and health screenings.”
In addition to providing comfort, convenience and quality under one roof, he said the Flushing location complements the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s existing inpatient programs and services in Queens and is staffed by multilingual clinicians, who are representative of the community. “In Flushing as with all our facilities, our goal is to offer greater access to care, meet the specific health needs of all residents of the community and replicate the high level of quality found in our hospitals to those receiving care in an outpatient setting,” Mr. Solazzo said.
