North Shore-LIJ Opens Health and Wellness Information Center at Citi Field
FLUSHING, NY – The North Shore-LIJ Health System today announced the opening of the Health Information Team (HIT) at Citi Field, a dedicated space that will educate fans about health and wellness related issues and solutions. Citi Field is the first ballpark in Major League Baseball with a permanent location where fans can learn about health information throughout the season.
Located on the Field Level in the right field corner, the climate-controlled space will have doctors and other medical professionals on staff at every game to provide guidance and counseling to fans on a wide variety of health-related topics including exercise, heart health, nutrition and women’s health. The staff will also have access to information about North Shore-LIJ’s 14 hospitals, more than 7,500 physicians and other health-care services across Queens, Long Island and Staten Island.
Fans visiting the center will be able to log onto North Shore-LIJ’s The Katz Institute for Women’s Health web site (http://whi.northshorelij.com) to learn more about how to take care of their families’ health needs. The space will also have multimedia displays, areas for private consultations, and health information for all fans wherever they live in the New York Tri-State area.
The Health Information Team is a unique service for fans resulting from New York Mets President Saul Katz’s commitment to and support of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, The Katz Institute for Women’s Health and the Katz Women’s Hospital, which is under construction at both LIJ Medical Center in Queens and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Long Island, and scheduled to open in 2012 and 2011, respectively. Katz is Chairman of the Board of North Shore-LIJ Health System and has been a board member since 1989.
“We want to educate and promote to our fans the benefits of engaging in a healthy lifestyle,” said Katz. “The Health Information Team brings the superior talent and care of doctors and clinicians at North Shore-LIJ directly to fans at Citi Field and provides a glimpse into what’s to come at the Katz Women’s Hospital.”
The Health Information Team will be open when fans enter the ballpark and will close in the middle of the seventh inning. Fans can find the full schedule of events at the Health Information Team at www.mets.com/healthinformationteam.
