North Shore-LIJ Health System President and Chief Executive Officer Michael J. Dowling issued the following statement today about his appointment as co-chair of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new Medicaid Redesign Team.

“As Governor Cuomo mentioned in his State of the State Address today, controlling Medicaid spending is one of the major challenges of his new administration. I am delighted to serve as co-chair of the Governor’s new Medicaid Redesign Team and look forward to working with my colleagues to offer some innovative solutions to this challenging issue.”

Note: Mr. Dowling served in New York State government for 12 years, including seven years as state director of Health, Education and Human Services and deputy secretary to former New York Governor Mario M. Cuomo. He was also commissioner of the New York State Department of Social Services.
