MANHASSET, NY -- The North Shore University Hospital Medical Staff Society today announced the appointment of Dr. Simon E. Prince FACP, FASN as president, effective July 1st, 2009.
The new president brings a wealth of medical and administrative experience to the hospital team, treating patients, teaching medicine and serving on several committees, including chairing the Medical Staff Affairs committee. He is a nephrologist and specializes in chronic kidney disease and hypertension management.

In his new role as president, Dr. Prince will serve as a head liaison for the medical staff of over 3,000 physicians in the ongoing collaborative relationship between the physicians and the administrative leadership of the hospital. His responsibilities will also include involvement and oversight of the hospital’s operations, quality assurance, performance improvement, and human resources.

“I am deeply honored by the opportunity to provide guidance and support to all the doctors and nurses who take such wonderful care of patients on a daily basis,” said Dr. Prince. “My goal is to contribute to the depth and quality of the hospital’s programs, improve operational efficiency and strengthen the hospital’s patient interface. I look forward to assuming my new responsibilities in July.”

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Prince held several leadership positions at the hospital, serving as a treasurer, secretary and vice president. He is a founder of North Shore Nephrology P.C – Manhasset-based medical practice consisting of five board-certified Nephrologists. In addition, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine.

He has a deep connection to North Shore University Hospital, where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Nephrology. Dr. Prince received his medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. He is board-certified in nephrology, a member of North Shore Physician Organization and numerous other medical organizations.
