Services Provided
The Food & Nutrition Department at Plainview Hospital services the regular and therapeutic nutritional needs of the patients, staff, volunteers, and local community. All attempts are made to understand and service the needs of the various backgrounds of the patients and staff which affect nutritional preferences and habits.
Treatments and Activities Performed
The department provides 3 meals/day plus nourishment for all patients in accordance to their diet order. All patients are screened to determine their nutritional status. Patients that are identified as being at high risk for nutritional problems are given an in depth nutritional assessment including goals and recommendations. Patients needing counseling on modified diets are given the appropriate education including informational materials.
The department provides Dietitians as speakers to the hospital's support group and to various groups in the community.
Approximately 100 meals (Monday - Friday) are provided to the elderly in the community through the Meals-On-Wheels program. To enhance the stay of our maternity patients, each receives a Rendezvous Dinner with their spouse/significant other.
