A Dramatic Success Story

Three years ago, Jennifer Kenny was wheelchair bound and in despair. Since her late teens, she had undergone several knee surgeries to correct a congenital condition, but none had helped her. The latest, when she was 32, had fused her left leg so she could not bend her knee. And her doctors were recommending that the other leg be fused. “Imagine what life would be like with two legs that were permanently straight,” says Jennifer. “I wouldn’t be able to ride in a car, sit in a chair — it was a terrible prospect.” Then she found Dr. Krauss.

First, he repaired her right knee, implanting a titanium prosthesis that didn’t require ligaments. Next, he surgically reversed the fusion of her left leg. Six weeks after the surgery, she was able to flex her left knee fully. “Dr. Krauss is a miracle worker,” Jennifer says flatly. “I’m actually thinking about skiing next winter.” Dr. Krauss adds, “This case was certainly a challenge, but I’m delighted with the result. There is no greater satisfaction in my work than helping people like Jennifer.” As a postscript, when Jennifer’s father needed a hip replacement, what surgeon did he choose? Dr. Krauss, of course. In fact, Dr. Krauss performed Mr. Ringle’s surgery on the same day he reversed the fusion of Jennifer’s left leg. “I feel super,” says Mr. Ringle. “But much more thrilling to me and to her mother is what Dr. Krauss did for Jennifer. We’ll be eternally grateful.”

“THERE IS NO GREATER SATISFACTION IN MY WORK THAN HELPING PEOPLE LIKE JENNIFER.”
EUGENE S. KRAUSS, MD
