Director
Eugene S. Krauss, MD
Director of the Department of Orthopedics
Director of the Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Institute
Chief of the Total Joint Replacement Program at Glen Cove Hospital
Dr. Krauss might be described as something of a Renaissance man. Before he devoted himself to the study of medicine, he founded a corporation that produced high-precision aerospace instrumentation, guidance systems, and pneumatic and hydraulic valves, some of them his own patented inventions, in the United States and overseas.
Dr. Krauss graduated from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed a surgical internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and performed his orthopedic residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, also in New York. He then completed two fellowships abroad, the first in orthopedic reconstructive surgery in Basel, Switzerland, and the second in pelvic and acetabular fracture fixation and reconstruction in Paris, France, with Dr. Emile Letournel, the world’s foremost authority on complex problems involving the pelvis and hip joint.
While Dr. Krauss is in demand as a guest lecturer worldwide, his first commitment is to his patients here on Long Island. He specializes in total joint replacements and arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee, hip, and shoulder. While the bulk of his surgical cases are uncomplicated and routine, his success rate with “hopeless” cases involving severe deformity or terrible trauma, often with previous failed surgery, is legendary. His grateful patients and their families number in the thousands.
A caring, compassionate physician, Dr. Krauss is committed to helping all patients who can be helped.
