  • Please report to Surgical Admitting. Enter the hospital through the main entrance and turn left just before the elevators. Surgical Admitting will be down the hall on our right.
  • Edison Garage open 24 hours or Valet Parking is available for a fee from 8am -8pm.
  • Please do not bring children to the hospital the day of admission.
  • Do not smoke or drink alcohol within 24 hours of surgery.
  • Do not eat or drink anything, including hard candies or chewing gum, after midnight the day of the surgery.
  • Do not apply makeup.
  • Do not bring valuables (i.e. cash, credit cards or jewelry).
  • Wear comfortable clothing. A hospital gown, robe and slippers will be provided.
  • Bring a container for contact lenses, eyeglasses or dentures.
  • Bring you insurance cards, a picture ID and any necessary authorizations forms.
  • A responsible adult must accompany you when you are discharged from the hospital.
  • If you are being admitted, you will receive a phone call the day before the surgery to confirm the date and time of the surgery. I you have any questions. Please call (718) 470-7975 or (718) 470-7400.
  • For same day surgery, you will not receive a phone call. If you have any questions, please call (718) 470-7474. please be available for phone calls on the day of your surgery in case of surgery changes.
  • Notify your surgeon if you become ill. (i.e. cold or flu like symptoms).
  • Do not take aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Plavix, Coumadin or other “blood thinners”, vitamin E, multivitamin, or herbal medications (especially Echinacea, ephedra, garlic, gingko, kava, St. John’s wart, and valerian) 1 week prior to surgery.
  • Notify the doctor of any blood thinners that your medical doctor wants you to continue.
  • Do not take insulin or other diabetic medications on the morning of the surgery.
  • If your surgery is after 4pm, drink a second 8-ounce glass of clear liquid before 11am. Clear liquid includes; water, ginger ale, apple or cranberry juice (not coffee or orange juice).
