Mario Nozzolillo began his experiences within the North Shore-LIJ Health System in 1997 as a research intern in the Department of Emergency Medicine under the leadership of Mary Frances Ward, RN and Andrew Sama, MD, at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset. After several months, he was hired full time as Senior Research Assistant. He assisted in developing and coordinating the Research Internship Program, whose scope is to assist physicians in their research endeavors. At its inception, the Internship Program began with five volunteers. Currently, there are over 30 interns and four full time paid positions. Several of the abstracts and articles written are published and many of the posters are presented at various ACEP (American College of Emergency Physicians) National Meetings.

Mr. Nozzolillo is fortunate enough to have been published more than once. He graduated in December 2000 with a BA in Biological Sciences and a double minor in Chemistry and Economics from the Honors Program at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. While pursuing his bachelor degree, he conducted research in several areas from gene cloning to cardiac anomalies.

Mr. Nozzolillo received his Masters Degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Health Policy and Management from New York University in December 2004. While pursuing this Masters Degree, he worked full-time as the Practice Administrator in the Department of Pediatrics at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan for 2½ years. His primary duties included financial reporting and analysis, revenue projection, managed care contracting, and database management. He directly supervised a staff of 11 medical billers and two reception areas. Currently, he is the Administrative Director in the Department of Ophthalmology, overseeing the daily operations of the practice including budgeting, administrative systems analysis and work flow.
