Otolaryngology at Plainview Hospital

The Division of Otolaryngology, chaired by Jay Youngerman, MD, is a very active and vibrant part of the Surgery Department at Plainview Hospital, where over 1,200 ear nose and throat procedures are performed each year.

These procedures include tonsil, adenoid, tube and major ear surgery such as stapedectomies and mastoids. Head and neck procedures for both benign and cancerous tumors - including thyroid and parathyroid disease, parotid and submaxillary gland lesions, oral lesions, lymph nodes and congenital cysts (thyroglossal duct cysts, branchial cysts, sebaceous cysts) - were all successfully performed.

Surgery for hoarseness, swallowing disorders, snoring and sleep apnea and nasal obstruction, were completed with the help of our advanced lasers. Facial plastic surgery has become a major part of our daily otolaryngology procedures, including rhinoplasty (nose job), face and brow lifts, external ear and eyelid surgery. The purchase of the newest and most modern equipment, including microscopes, drills, lasers and monitors has resulted in the expansion of ENT services at Plainview Hospital.
