Our Sleep Solutions

Patients who come to the sleep center will be evaluated by physicians who are board certified in sleep medicine. Before you come for your initial appointment, an information packet will be sent to you that includes a sleep diary and several questionnaires.

The Sleep Study

Frequently a sleep study, known as polysomnography, is the most accurate method of pinpointing the cause of an individual's sleep disorder. This study usually requires one or two nights at the center to undergo the necessary tests. Sophisticated equipment assesses brain waves, breathing patterns, heart activity and body movement during sleep. You will feel comfortable and at home in the hands of our capable staff.

For the convenience of our patients, the sleep center is open seven days a week. Sleep studies can be scheduled on weekends for patients who work full time. If a study is scheduled for a weeknight, testing usually is completed by early the next morning.

An Individualized Treatment Plan Just For You

A variety of treatments are available for sleep disorders, depending on the diagnosis. The majority of patients do not require medication. The sleep center is backed by the significant medical resources of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, including the Center for Weight Management and the Pulmonary Medicine Department, and other departments of two nearby tertiary hospitals.  A report of your diagnosis and treatment recommendations will be mailed to your primary care physician.
