| The mission of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is to provide comprehensive mental health services for children, adolescents and their families. Generally, patients served are between the ages of 3 and 18, but special groups of young adults are also served. All major DSM-IV child-related diagnoses are represented. Almost half of patient treatment cases have a primary diagnosis of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or a related disruptive behavior disorder. |
Other common diagnoses are: depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, developmental disorders, somatic disorders and movement disorders. Family-related problems are frequently addressed in the course of treatment of all disorders. Special programs include the following:
- ADHD Program, which includes medicine, social skills groups and parenting groups
- RAP (Recognition and Prevention) Program, geared to helping adolescents who are socially isolated
- PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) Program, which uses groups to encourage appropriate socialization for youngsters with this disorder
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for youth exhibiting self-injurious behavior or diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder

Northern State Parkway (Grand Central Parkway) or Long Island Expressway to Lakeville Road South. From Northern State, first traffic light on Lakeville is driveway to 400 Lakeville. Turn right, park in lot behind 400 Lakeville. Ambulatory Service is in Suite 260 on the second floor.
