Pediatric Cardiology

Most children begin life healthy and stay that way. But 8 in 1,000 children are born with heart defects. Other may develop or acquire heart disease later in childhood. We have the technology to help find heart defects as early as the 16th week of pregnancy. Our staff strives to use the least invasive methods necessary to correct a child's condition and to reduce risks.

Within the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, we provide two pediatric cardiology programs. The Children’s Heart Center at Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York and The Department of Pediatric Cardiology at Staten Island University Hospital. Our centers provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary service to the fetus, newborn, infant, child and adolescent with heart abnormalities.
