Perinatal Psychiatry
The Perinatal Psychiatry track provides evaluation, consultation and/or treatment for:
- Women who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy and have certain psychiatric disorders that require evaluation and management through the perinatal timeframe
- Women who have recently given birth (within the past four to 12 weeks) and have developed psychiatric symptoms requiring treatment
Treatments, which focus on coping with changes in life roles and developmental stages in life, include:
- Psychopharmacology
- Enhanced collaboration of care with OB/Gyn
- Group therapy
- Individual therapy using interpersonal therapy (IPT), an evidence-based treatment for short-term depression
