Perioperative
Perioperative Services is comprised of the following clinical areas:
Operating Room
- 21 multispecialty OR’s including 1 cystoscopy room (to be expanded to 23 in early 2008)
- Specialties: Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, Urology, General surgery, Surgical Oncology, Gynecology, Kidney Transplant, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Plastics, Otolaryngology, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Podiatry
- Level 1 Trauma Center
- 24/7
- Annual volume = 14,500 cases
Lithotripter Unit
- Two procedure rooms
- Urological endoscopy, Lithotripsy procedures
- Annual volume = 950 cases
Same-Day Admissions
- Seven cubicles (to be expanded to 17 cubicles with OR holding area)
- Preoperative assessment and preparation of elective surgery patients being admitted on the day of surgery
Post Anesthesia Care Unit
- 27 beds and one isolation room
- All surgical patients with the exception of cardiac surgery patients are recovered in this unit. Overnight patients 8-10 are accepted if requiring a higher level of care
- 24/7
- Annual visits = 13800
Pre-Admission Testing
- Two sites (main hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center)
- Preoperative assessment done in preparation for a wide variety of surgical and other interventional procedures.
- Monday through Friday – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Annual visits = 14,100
Ambulatory Surgery
- Admission area
- 7 ORs – Orthopedics, General Surgery, Podiatry, Plastics, Gynecology, Otolaryngology, Pediatrics, Vascular, Dentistry
- 18 beds PACU
- Mammography Unit
- Monday through Friday 6:30AM to 7:00PM
- Annual volume = 7900
Endoscopy Unit
- Four procedure rooms, 1 ERCP room; 1 Minor surgery room
- PACU 13 beds
- Monday through Friday 7AM to 7PM
- Annual volume = 7200
Sterile Processing
- Centralized approach to processing instrumentation
- 24/7
- Provides services to OR, Ambulatory Surgery, Labor and Delivery, Cardiology, Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Ambulatory Clinics, Off site physician practices
The patient population served within Perioperative Services includes neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric.
Governance is provided by the Directors of Perioperative Services in collaboration with the Chairmen of the following clinical departments:
