Peripheral Vascular Laboratory at NSUH

 

The peripheral vascular laboratory of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York has been providing diagnostic non-invasive vascular laboratory services to the hospital and to the community for  3 decades. 

The laboratory’s commitment to quality is demonstrated by the achievement and maintenance of accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories since 1993.  A complete array of non-invasive screening and diagnostic services is provided to a large population of outpatients and inpatients.  Examinations performed in the laboratory provide critical diagnostic information in the evaluation of a broad spectrum of vascular diseases. State-of-the-art color-flow duplex ultrasound as well as computerized continuous wave Doppler equipment is utilized.  

There is a dedicated and credentialed staff committed to quality performance.  Experienced and friendly vascular technologists perform the examinations.  There is a highly experienced physician staff from the departments of Medicine and Radiology available at all times in the laboratory.  Physicians directly supervise and interpret the examinations, and are available to speak with patients or referring physicians.  Preliminary reports are immediately available to referring physicians.

  • Arterial Segmental Systolic Pressures and Pulse Volume Recordings, with or without treadmill stress testing
  • Arterial Continuous Wave Doppler Analogue Waveforms
  • Arterial Photoplethysmography of the Upper and Lower Extremity Digits 

Imaging Tests

  • Carotid Artery Duplex Imaging – Evaluation of Extracranial Carotid Artery Disease
  • Venous Duplex Imaging of Upper and Lower Extremities – Diagnosis of Venous Thrombosis or Venous Insufficiency.
  • Pelvic Venous Duplex Imaging - Diagnosis of Iliac and Vena Cava Thrombosis
  • Saphenous Vein Mapping prior to Peripheral Bypass and Coronary Bypass Graft Harvesting
  • Arterial Duplex Imaging of Upper and Lower Extremity Native Arteries
  • Peripheral Bypass Graft Imaging and Surveillance
  • Hemodialysis Graft Surveillance and Arteriovenous Fistula Evaluation
  • Radial Artery Duplex Imaging - Evaluation for Coronary Bypass Graft Harvesting
  • Penile Duplex Imaging- Diagnosis of Vasculogenic causes of Impotence
