Personality Disorders

Persons with a personality disorder display rigid and maladaptive thinking and reacting behaviors that can often disrupt their personal, professional and social lives. The onset is in adolescence or early adulthood, is stable over time and leads to distress or impairment. Types of personality disorders include: paranoid, schizoid, schizotypal, borderline, antisocial, narcissistic, histrionic, dependent, avoidant and obsessive-compulsive. Individual and group psychotherapies are generally considered the best treatments.
