Philip P. Rosenthal

Mr. Rosenthal is responsible for executing day-to-day operations at Lenox Hill Hospital, a member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System.

He first began working at Lenox Hill in 1980 when he became assistant administrator of its Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma, the first hospital-based center for the study of sports medicine in the country. In 1995, he played a major role in the establishment and development of the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute.

Mr. Rosenthal was appointed executive director of Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in 2000, when Lenox Hill Hospital became its sponsor. In January 2009, he was appointed executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Lenox Hill Hospital, with responsibility for clinical and support services.

Currently, Mr. Rosenthal is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Mr. Rosenthal received a bachelor’s degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York, and in 1998, was named to the Hunter College Hall of Fame in recognition of outstanding achievement. He earned a master’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University, and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business Administration, Columbia University, receiving the Distinguished Service Award.
