The philosophy of our nursing practice can easily be summed up as the patient comes first.
We honor the human spirit and believe in the inherent dignity and value of every person, family and community. We see the unique, holistic mission of nursing and strive to meet the needs of each patient medically, culturally and spiritually, enabling them to achieve their highest level of health or a peaceful, dignified end of life.
We believe that professional nursing is both an art and a humanistic science that provides an essential service to society by promoting the health of individuals, families and the communities in which we live and practice. Here registered professional nurses practice in an environment where the individual RN is the leader of the health care team empowered with the autonomy, the support and the resources to assist patients in attaining maximum wellness across the continuum of health care.
As the cornerstone of the health care team, registered professional nurses embrace and contribute to the vision of the North Shore-LIJ Health System to be a national health care leader with a commitment to clinical excellence, compassion and improving the health of the community.
