American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing
The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing is an association of professional nurses and associates who identify ambulatory care practice as essential to the continuum of high quality, cost-effective health care.

American Organization of Nurse Executives
Founded in 1967, the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association, is a national organization of nearly 4,000 nurses who design, facilitate, and manage care.  Their mission is to represent nurse leaders who improve healthcare.

American Nurses Association
The American Nurses Association (ANA) is a full-service professional organization representing the nation’s 2.6 million Registered Nurses through its 54 constituent state associations and 13 organizational affiliate members.

American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
Formed in 1985, the Academy, as the only full service organization for nurse practitioners of all specialties, has steadily expanded services to meet its mission to: serve as a resource for nurse practitioners, their patients and other healthcare consumers; promote excellence in practice, education and research; provide legislative leadership; advance health policy; establish healthcare standards; and act as advocate for access to quality, cost effective healthcare.

American Association of Neuroscience Nurses

Association of Child Neurology Nurses (ACNN)
ACNN is an international not-for-profit- organization of nurses and allied health personnel caring for patients with neurological conditions.

American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA)  
The mission of the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association is to advance nephrology nursing practice and positively influence outcomes for patients with kidney disease through advocacy, scholarship, and excellence.  Since it was established as a nonprofit organization in 1969, ANNA has a membership of over 11,000 registered nurses and health care professionals at all levels of practice.

American Association of Critical Care Nurses
The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) provides and inspires leadership to establish work and carte environments that are respectful, healing and humane.  AACN is dedicated to creating a healthcare system driven by the needs of patients and families where critical care nurses make their optimal contribution.

American College of Nurse Practitioners
Founded in 1993, the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) is a national non-profit membership organization headquartered in Washington, DC.  The ACNP is focused on advocacy and keeping NP’s current on legislative, regulatory and clinical practice issues that effect NP’s in the rapidly changing healthcare arena.

Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses
AORN is the professional organization of perioperative registered nurses that supports registered nurses in achieving optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures.  AORN is the global leader in promoting excellence in perioperative nursing practice. AORN is composed of approximately 40,000 perioperative registered nurses in the United States and abroad.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN)
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is the national voice for America’s higher-degree nursing education programs. AACN represents more than 600 schools of nursing at public and private universities.

The Academy of Neonatal Nursing
The mission of the Academy of Neonatal Nursing is to provide quality neonatal nursing educational materials and programs at a reasonable cost of all neonatal nurses.  The Academy does this through professional, peer-reviewed publications, educational conferences, and offering books and other materials to neonatal nurses.

The American Holistic Nurses Association

The Forum for Shared Governance
The Forum for Shared Governance is a clearinghouse for promoting and disseminating research about shared governance and similar organizational innovations that help empower nurses and other healthcare professionals in their workplaces.

New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA)
The New York State Nurses Association is the nation’s oldest and largest state professional association for registered nurses.  It also is New York’s largest union solely dedicated to promoting the interests of RN’s and their patients.

With more than 34,000 members, NYSNA has been the voice for nurses in New York State for more than a century.  The association is affiliated on the national level with the American Nurses Association.

The Magnet Recognition Program
The Magnet Recognition Program is based on quality indictors and standards of nursing practice as defined in the American Nurses Association’s Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators (2004).  The Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators and other “foundational documents” from the base upon which the Magnet environment is built.  The Magnet designation process includes the appraisal of qualitative factors in nursing.  These factors, referred to as “Forces of Magnetism” were first identified through research done in 1983.

Nursing Spectrum
