Hospitalist Program
Hospital medicine is a specialty in which physicians focus on caring for patients in the hospital. These physicians are called hospitalists.
When compared to physicians who have a combination of inpatient and outpatient practices, hospitalists have been shown to improve mortality, patient satisfaction, re-hospitalization rate, length of stay, overall cost effectiveness, and both resident and nursing satisfaction.
Hospitalists at Forest Hills Hospital serve as attending physicians for patients admitted to medicine units and provide high quality care to acutely ill patients with complex medical problems including, diabetes, hypertension, infections and multiple organ system disorders.
Upon discharge, your hospitalist will be in touch with your primary care physician to discuss additional treatment, help arrange any follow up care and prescribe medications. The hospitalist discusses the discharge medications and follows up with you.
