Quality Attainment

North Shore-LIJ has been participating in the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services Pay for Performance Project for the past four years. Quality attainment means our hospitals have met or exceeds the national hospital benchmark, as established by CMS. Through this project, CMS anticipates a significant improvement in the quality of care provided in hospitals through awarding incentive payments to hospitals for providing high quality care in five medical conditions and publicly reporting these data.

The measures relate to care in the following five conditions: Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting procedures, Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery and Pneumonia care.  Several of our hospitals have received incentive payments for outstanding performance on these measures, and are ranked as top performers (among the top 20%).
