Services Provided
The Radiology Department's hours of operation are 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Department of Radiology at Syosset Hospital is a consultative service that offers a full range of imaging modalities to inpatients, outpatients and the community.

Types of Practitioners Providing Care
An x-ray technologist is on-site 24 hours a day. Specially trained radiologists and technologist staff (special procedures, ultrasound and CT scan technologists) are available at all times. Each radiologist is certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Services and Activities Performed
The following diagnostic services are offered:

Diagnostic Radiology: X-ray procedures on all body parts, such as upper and lower extremities, abdomen, pelvis, chest, spinal films and skull. Mammography, G.I. Series, Barium or Hypaque Enemas, and Intravenous Pyelograms are also performed. CT Guided Biopsy is an example of a special procedure that is done by the Radiology Department.

Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac Imaging: Bone scans, Gallium, HIDA, lung, liver and spleen scans. Some additional routing studies are renal scan and flow, thyroid studies. The cardiology portion of the Nuclear Medicine Department performs Thallium stress and cardiac gate studies.

Ultrasonography: Liver, spleen, renal and pelvic studies. Examinations of thyroid, scrotal and prostate are also done. Localizations are done for biopsies, aspirations and catheter placements. Doppler studies of the carotids and extremities can also be performed.

Computerized Tomography: Studies of all upper and lower extremities, brain, posterior fossa, orbits, sinuses, facial bones, chest, abdomen, kidneys and pelvis are performed using IV contrast when applicable. CT scans of the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spine are also done. Localizations for biopsy of the lung, liver, pancreas and kidneys are done under the CT scan control.

Special Procedures: Magnetic Resonance Imaging services are provided off-site at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Franklin Hospital.
