March 11, 2010

Michael Dowling, right, president and CEO of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, recently accepted the National Quality Forum (NQF) Award from Daniel Wolterman, president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, TX, at the NQF's spring policy conference in Baltimore, MD. With 14 hospitals across Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Richmond counties, North Shore-LIJ was the first New York area healthcare provider recognized by NQF for providing quality-driven healthcare. “North Shore-LIJ is a clear leader in striving to make high-quality care commonplace for every patient and a central part of its culture,” said Janet Corrigan, NQF's president and CEO. The NQF presents its National Quality Healthcare Award annually to "exemplary healthcare organizations that are role models for achieving meaningful, sustainable quality improvement in healthcare."
