Research/Publications

The division of Kidney Diseases and hypertension is well recognized for its research activities. The Division's research activities have been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health for the last 17 years. In addition, faculty members have grants from the American Heart Association and National Kidney Foundation.

Nephrology fellows are actively encouraged to work with the full-time faculty members in their research endeavors. Fellows are expected to engage in research projects culminating in a publication per year and submit research for both intramural and extramural presentation. Support for much of their efforts has been obtained through grants from the National Kidney Foundation of NY/NJ.

Laboratory research is carried out at the laboratories assigned by the Feinstein Institute for Medical Reseerch. This institute is the part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. It has General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) which is funded by the National Institute of Health. It has centralized core laboratories for scientists to carry out their experiments. It also allows access for collaboration with other scientists. Laboratories of the institute are located at both campuses.
