6 months General Surgery: 3 NSUH and 3 LIJMC
6 months surgical specialties: 1 month Burn at SIUH, 1 month GU, SICU, Pediatric Surgery, Vascular Surgery, US/Anesthesia between NSUH and LIJMC

PGY-2

8 Categorical
2 Preliminary

6 months SICU; 3 months at NSUH and 3 months at LIJMC
4 months general surgery: 2 at NSUH and 2 at LIJMC
1 month ER at LIJMC and 1 month Ambulatory Surgery at NSUH

PGY-3

8 Categorical

6.5 months general surgery between NSUH and LIJMC
3 months vascular surgery between NSUH and LIJMC
6 weeks of Pediatric Surgery at LIJMC
4 weeks of Transplantation at WCMC

PGY-4

8 Categorical

9 months General Surgery between NSUH and LIJMC
3 months Trauma Surgery at NCMC

PGY-5

8 Categorical

9.5 months General Surgery between NSUH and LIJMC
1.5 months of Vascular Surgery at LIJMC



Research — Two years for selected residents following either the PGY-2 or PGY-3 year. A three-year PhD program in molecular medicine is available at the Feinstein Research Insitute for those residents interested in pursuing a PhD while undertaking their training in general surgery.
