Ronald Kanner, MD

North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center

 

 Dr. Kanner oversees neurological services for the health system’s Long Island-based tertiary hospitals.

He established the first pain service at the hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and later helped expand the service to include Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Kanner has been published on the subject of pain management, both in cancer and non-cancer patients. Currently, he serves as professor of neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and chairman of the Residency Review Committee for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Dr. Kanner received his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Madrid, Spain. He completed his internship at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia General Hospital) and his residency in neurology at the Affiliated Hospitals of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also completed two years of fellowship in neuro-oncology and pain management at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY.
