Smith Institute for Urology Cuts Ribbon on New Center
The North Shore-LIJ Health System recently opened the Robert S. Waldbaum Center, a Manhasset satellite office of the prestigious Arthur Smith Institute for Urology. The center is named for Robert Waldbaum, MD, North Shore University Hospital’s (NSUH) chairman emeritus of urology who has practiced in Manhasset for nearly 40 years. Sharing space with the health system’s transplant center, the new facility is located at 1554 Northern Blvd. With a group of colleagues, friends and family members looking on, Dr. Waldbaum cut the ribbon on the new center, with his wife, Ruth Waldbaum, MD. Sharing in the celebration were, from left: Susan Somerville, RN, NSUH’s executive director, Lawrence Smith, MD, the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s chief medical officer, Louis Kavoussi, MD, North Shore-LIJ’s chairman of urology, and Saul Katz, North Shore-LIJ’s chairman.
