SANDS POINT, NEW YORK—Over 600 of Long Island’s elite donned their high-fashion wear and gathered for the 17th Annual Partners Council for Women’s Health Fall Luncheon & Fashion Show on September 24. The event, sponsored by Americana Manhasset and taking place for the first time this year at Sands Point Preserve, raised $350,000 to benefit North Shore-LIJ’s new Katz Women’s Hospital and Women’s Health Institute.

Upon arrival, guests mingled with friends and entered to win an array of stylish raffle prizes before enjoying a sit-down lunch catered by Lawrence Scott Events. Following the meal, a stunning runway show showcased fall fashions by Michael Kors, with models’ makeup by Estee Lauder and hair by nuBest salon and spa. The stylish afternoon was hosted by television personality and fashion authority Robert Verdi.

This year’s Fall Luncheon & Fashion Show was made possible by a number of generous individuals and corporations, including the Jeri Finesilver Cancer Foundation, Arlene Levine, Jane B. Stein, the Carol and Arnold Wolowitz Foundation, the Susan and Leonard Feinstein Foundation, Elly Hammerman, the Iris and Saul Katz Family Foundation, Lilo and Gerard Leeds, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mazzei, nuBest salon and spa, and Merry and Richard Slone, as well as by media sponsors Anton Community Newspapers and Newsday Media Group.

Construction is well underway on the Katz Women’s Hospital at both LIJ Medical Center in New Hyde Park and North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) in Manhasset. With the first phase of construction at LIJ completed this past July, the new building is expected to be fully enclosed by July of 2010 and ready for occupation in the spring of 2012. At NSUH, the first phase of construction should be finished by the end of 2010. North Shore-LIJ hopes to unveil the completed Katz Women’s Hospital at NSUH in 2011.

The Partners Council for Women’s Health of the North Shore-LIJ Health System is devoted to raising funds to ensure that cutting-edge care, facilities and technology are available to all women of the community. Currently Partners Council is working to support the new Katz Women’s Hospital and Women’s Health Institute – a synergy of programs and services that will take women’s healthcare to new heights.
