Ophthalmology
The Department of Ophthalmology of the North Shore-LIJ Health System is located in a state-of-the-art outpatient facility on Northern Boulevard in Great Neck, NY, which includes 12 examination lanes, automated visual field machines, computerized topography, Optical Coherence Tomography, Specular Microscopy and Confocal as well as digital fluorescein angiography and slit lamp photography, YAG laser, Iris Medical red and green lasers, IOL Master, and a minor surgical procedure room.
The Department of Ophthalmology has board-certified faculty (by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a founding Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties), and more than 100 voluntary faculty.
Subspecialties covered by both the full time and voluntary faculty include: Cornea and External Disease, Neuro-Ophthalmology Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Retina, Uveitis, Oculoplastics, and Low Vision Services. A total of 12 residents are trained under the supervision of the faculty. The academic affiliations of the Department of Ophthalmology are the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the NYU School of Medicine.
