The Programs
The clinical pastoral education program offers a fall and a spring Unit. The fall unit begins in early September and continues through late January. The spring unit begins in early February and finishes in June. It consists of a minimum of 400 hours of supervised ministry and training. Students spend five hours per week in group learning and 11 hours per week in the hospital providing pastoral care to patients, their families and friends, as well as staff.
The hospital hours are flexible to the student's schedule. Group meetings will be on weekdays from 1 pm to 6 pm. Each student will have ten hours of individual supervision during the course. The weekday afternoon group time will include: clinical presentations by students, topic seminars, and a group process seminar each week.
The number of students accepted into this program is limited to six. A unit of ACPE credit is granted to students completing this program. The program totals 400 hours. The Summer Program (40 hours per week) contains the same educational elements as the extended unit but is concentrated into 11 weeks.
