Weight Control
Children Pages
Obesity is a life-threatening disease that contributes to 300,000 deaths each year. It is the second most preventable cause of death behind smoking. The cause of obesity is not the same for each individual. It can include energy balance (calories consumed vs. calories used), heredity, metabolism, eating and social habits and psychological issues. Because of the many associated factors, successful weight control must take all relevant ones into consideration.
