When Is CVS Done?
The procedure is usually performed between the 10th and 12th week of pregnancy. In certain situations, CVS can be performed after 12 weeks if considered necessary by your physician. Your doctor will confirm your gestational age based on your last menstrual period and the due date you have been given. Your doctor will be asked to obtain your blood type, antibody screen and cervical cultures. You should inform your physician if you have any vaginal infections or bleeding during the first three months of pregnancy. Prior to the start of the procedure, all patients will be given a sonogram to confirm the size of the fetus.
