Women's Health at Southside
Southside Hospital has services for female patients of all ages. Our medical team consists of obstetricians, gynecologists, urogynecologists, gyn-oncologists, perinatologists, reproductive endocrinologists, residents, clinical nurse specialists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, sonography technicians and nutritionists.
A full range of gynecological surgery is performed by obstetricians and gynecologists. With minimally invasive techniques, many procedures take less time, require less anesthesia, and use much smaller incisions. Many gynecological procedures can be done using "bloodless medicine" techniques.
At the heart of Southside's women's services are its maternity services. Southside's new Maternity Center provides medical services for a safe and healthy birth, a caring environment for healthy infants, intensive services for premature newborns and those with health problems, prenatal programs, baby care and safety courses. To get new families off to a healthy start, we coddle mothers and babies, and welcome family and loved ones to visit and celebrate the new addition.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, and women on Long Island have higher rates of breast cancer than in most other communities. Southside Hospital has ample breast cancer diagnostic and treatment services including a large mammography and diagnostic ultrasound service.
Southside Hospital works in conjunction with Breast Cancer Help, Inc.
