NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A never to be forgotten holiday experience was made possible for young patients at Cohen Children’s Medical Center by Delta Air Lines and the Garden of Dreams Foundation at their Holiday in the Hangar event at JFK airport on December 6th, 2011. It was a memorable day for these children, some of whom are coping with severe medical challenges.

The excitement mounted as the special guests were met at Terminal 2 by Delta Elves who escorted the families to the gate where they boarded a special plane for a 30 minute “flight” to their destination, Winter Wonderland.

The thrill of being on a festively decorated plane was written all over the children’s faces, and their parents' as well. From the magical arrival of “snow showers,” greetings from the Radio City Rockettes, the Knicks, the Rangers and the Liberty, being surrounded by a fantastic luncheon buffet with an arcade of fun activities, to the surprise special appearance of singing star, Willow Smith, it was a day to remember. And of course, the day was topped off by the arrival of Santa with presents.

The patients, their siblings and parents were given an opportunity to forget their illnesses and focus on the fun and excitement of a very unique and uplifting holiday celebration – an effective medicine for all!
